This was the challenge day. It was about giving presentations about volunteer work. I have several criticisms about the day program. Firstly, we were not have time to prepare properly for the presentation and that what made our presentation weak. Secondly, since there were a lot of absences, the ambassadors should have incorporate to groups with each other. Thirdly, the challenge subject was not set clearly enough.
However, all in all, we watched several great presentations from different groups with a good scientific content and a great performance.

Thursday 14 July
This was really a good and productive day. It was about Management Development course by professional couple. I benefited a lot from this course. I knew now what are the characters of a leader manager. There are several of them mentioned in the course like talks with people and listens, communicates visions and negotiates objectives, looks for continuous improvement, gives control, focus on purpose and a lot of other things. After that, we asked to prepare for a presentation. The aim of this presentation was to practice working in teams and to create ideas on how we are going to present.

Wednesday 13 July
This day was dedicated to outside activities only. The ambassadors divided us to 3 groups; 2 male groups and 1 female group. Our group firstly went to Lowestoft Lifeboat Station where we met the person responsible about the centre. He explained to us the rule of the center and how is it responsible about the hall Great Britain. Then he showed us inside the lifeboat and he explained to us every part of it.
After this, we went to the Lowestoft College-water survival course. It was the most fun part of the day. We had lots of laughers.
Finally, we went to Lowestoft Maritime Museum. We saw some of the old ships figurine and the tools they used to use when they want to fishing. I bought also some books from the museum for few pounds which is really good-_-.

Tuesday 12 July
We assembled outside the UEA Village accommodation. Then, we went to a Water Resource Management Masterclass from the school of International Development. The lecture was about how to manage the water sources in Africa in order to assure that each one get his/her share from the water.
After the lecture we played a game about the same problem. It was a board with several fields on it and each team try to get the sufficient amount of water for their field irrigation. It was so much fun seeing each team idea where some teams said they would invade the field with the most amount of water and some of them said they would make contracts with other fields. Then, they asked us to give solutions to solve this problem where to we should make equal distribution of water to the different fields. Our team came out of the idea that there should be a central authority control the water share acceding to the field area.
After the lunch break we went the ecotech center where we climb the wind turbine. It was a great sight from up the wind turbine.

Monday 11 July
This was a special day where we went on a tour to BBC studios and interviews with local community groups. The BBC studio visit was absolutely brilliant tour; besides the BBC staff were a great host, they made everyone feel very welcome. They started with us by a lecture about journalism and how the journalist should by ready to prepare a story in shortest time possible, be hones and independent and organized. Then, we went on a tour around the BBC studios, we pass by the TV studio and we saw how difficult to keep track with the presenter inside the studio and the staff outside the studio. What I liked in the tour is that when the tour guide told us that they receive the time they have for their programs from London in seconds which is really amazing how they are accurate in time. Also, I liked the part when we actually performed as we are in the studio in which someone became a presenter and another control the voice and one control the camera and another one control the script appeared to the reporter; it was great and lots of laughers.
In the second session, we went to one of the BTCV charity member to interview her. It was my first time to be an interviewer and it was really good experience. It increased my confident when I talk to someone who is I met for the first time. I am also learnt how an interviewer should be organized and the questions have to be arranged with much care.

Firstly in this day, we had an introduction about coastal erosion by Professor Chris and the places that we will go to. Then, we had the chance to go to the places where coastal erosion takes place and we did notice the difference between the places that have been protected and the ones the have not. We passed by shores that has been protected by 'holding the line' method which in my opinion is a very good one, but it is expensive.
The fieldtrip was overall a great one except for the weather which keep raining almost all the day.

We started to congregate at 8:45 in the courtyard outside UEA Village accommodation. Then, we moved to the School of Environmental Sciences where, firstly, we had a lecture about GIS. I benefited from the lecture a lot. I now know that GIS (geographic information system) is if I can term it, the mother of GPS. GIS is a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage and present all types of geographically referenced data.
I learnt that GIS can be used in a variety of fields such as: archaeology, geography, remote sensing, land surveying, public utility, management natural resource management, environmental contamination and navigation. Therefore, GIS is a really helpful tool to give information for informing decision making.
Then we went to the University's Flume Laboratory and Virtual Reality Suite for hands-on work in two very different world-leading research facilities. We got to know in this lab that when we stuck a pipe into the sand vertically, there will be like a scour around the pipe. Also, we made and experiment to examine if there are different results when we stuck various pipes of different diameters into a sand bed. The results of the experiment is that the pipe with the biggest diameter would result bigger scour around it and would fall down lastly if we increase the speed of the wave. This is one idea of saving the coast from erosion.
